TeleSolv is seeking a Medical Records Technician (MRT) to provide full-time support to a client within our Federal Practice area in Arlington, VA. The ideal candidate will have provided support to senior managers within the Federal government in the recent past. Private sector experience will be considered.
 
Position Description and Responsibilities:
All Contract MRT’s shall meet the qualifications for that specialty and perform essentially the same functions, within the scope of acceptable standards for their technical professional discipline, as those required by Army or government service technical professionals of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. Contract MRT practices/productivity will be compared to that of other Government personnel assigned to the same medical clinic. Specific duties/tasks the MRT will perform include but are not limited to:
 
  • Receives, process, and track all requests for medical information and medical histories from other medical treatment facilities, Veteran’s Administration, private physicians and patients.
  • Maintains suspense and forwards information as soon as possible; notifies requestor when inpatient or outpatient records are not presently available.
  • Screen and review requests to insure that it contains necessary information and is in compliance with regulations governing release of medical information requirements.
  • Perform a quantitative review of the medical record for completeness, ensuring all documents are signed and dated.
  • Answer telephone inquiries from within the agency and related facilities and agencies regarding status of request, standard operating procedures, and any other general information/inquiries regarding release of information.
  • Maintain all clinical record filing systems and their related components to include filing and/or scanning loose material into appropriate records, (i.e. late laboratory reports) and transfer clinical records from other medical treatment facilities (military and civilian), etc.).
  • Package and deliver medical records to be sent out via certified mail.
  • Serves as alternate front desk clerk; checks in patients; escorts patients to appointments; greets patients when they arrive; assists in appointing patients and contacting patients if appointments need to be changed. 
Workload Data:
  • Make copies of all requested medical information, package it, and forward/mail them to the requesting person/agency on a daily basis.
  • Track all medical requests incoming/outgoing on a daily basis.
  • Confirm/track payment of medical release information from all agencies this refers to on a daily basis.
  • Sort/scan all loose medical documents into AHLTA then distribute to labeled patient.
  • Request medical record/information from all medical treatment facilities as needed.
  • Maintain all Clinical record filing systems as required.
  • Perform a quantitative review of the medical record for completeness as required.
  • Perform any other additional duties required by Patient Administration Department.
Qualifications for the position:
  • Knowledge of basic office organization and management, a knowledge of military budgeting, ordering, and administrative processes, an ability to interact with others in an effective and friendly manner, and possess an ability to write and speak in an effective and professional manner.
  • Ability to use computerized software used in word-processing, presentation, financial and accounting applications, and an ability to organize and analyze service-related metrics.
  • AHLTA experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office—Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Publisher and Outlook.
  • Ability to assist customers and staff promptly.
  • Ability to receive instructions and apply those instructions to task completion.
  • Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent certificate. 
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year professional experience working as a Medical Records Technician.

  • Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Must possess IT-II security clearance or have a current National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC) Required Skills
