Position Summary:

The Paralegal that we seek to hire will support the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brownsville, Texas. The candidate should be capable of providing litigation support to include performing legal research; performing records research; witness interviews; title reviews; preparation of reports; research and response to complaints; and courtroom assistance/trial preparation.

Position Responsibilities: 
  • Conduct witness interviews and prepare a record of the interviews for use at deposition;
  • Review title commitments for accuracy;
  • Prepare Amended Declarations of Taking (ADT) Reports, Joint Motions to Close, and Motions to Suppress; summarize depositions and other transcripts; maintain case files; and control exhibits and other materials at depositions and at trial;
  • Research and respond to landowner complaints;
  • Support and assist attorneys in the courtroom by preparing exhibit cross-references; and screening documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Excellent administrative, writing, grammar and proofreading skills;
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality with the ability to operate under minimal supervision. 
Candidate Qualifications:
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a paralegal in a law office, preferably with experience in litigation;
  • A Paralegal Degree or Paralegal Certificate;
  • Skills and competencies in the job duties described above.
The selected candidate will be required to undergo a Federal background investigation before starting this position.
