Duties / Responsibilities:
The Training Coordinator serves as the principal training support professional for the designated program office within a federal agency.  The selected individual operates with a great deal of independence ensuring that personnel (federal and contractor) are acquiring and maintaining the requisite skills and knowledge to execute all activities within scope for their position and assignment.  To this end, the Training Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive Training Plan; conducting needs assessments and surveys; designing and testing all training materials; and maintaining systems for tracking training activities and requirements. 

The Training Coordinator develops and gathers material for training on program specific procedures by reviewing existing training assets.  Where approved training materials do not exist, the Training Coordinator consults subject matter experts and the organization's established procedures and guidance to propose content to the sponsor.  Course materials that may be developed include handbooks, presentations, course outlines, course objectives, lesson plans, examinations, attendance records, job aids and certificates.  The Training Coordinator’s efforts to optimize the training program (content and scope) are informed by information collected during the needs assessment process including the review of quality assurance data, assessment surveys, course evaluations, and stakeholder feedback.


In addition to evaluating the program’s existing training assets, the Training Coordinator evaluates external training offerings and/or conferences and makes recommendations on the incorporation of external resources into the training program. When personnel are required to train at off-site locations, the Training Coordinator provides guidance on the preparation of requests forms, cost estimates, and justifications for submission to the government.  With respect to travel, the Training Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating and arranging for the attendance of subject matter experts at agency sponsored training events.

Upon the completion of training, the Training Coordinator disseminates and maintains copies of training certificates/documentation and updates the tracker accordingly.  The Training Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that all post-training assessments are completed; and that required training is accessible and available to all personnel (federal and contractor).  

 Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 
  • Eight (8) years of experience working for a private firm or a federal client in a similar capacity.
  • Eight (8) years of relevant work experience, government contracting experience preferred.
  • Eight (8) years of demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Eight (8) years of demonstrated proficiency in the following Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop. 
  • U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Requirements:
  • Applicants with active Top Secret Security Clearances are preferred
