Duties / Responsibilities: The selected candidate will provide direct support to a Federal client in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area by preparing cost estimates for construction projects, or services to aid management in bidding on or determining the anticipated price of products or services.
The Construction Cost Estimator shall have the ability to:
Prepare estimates based on the proposed scope of work, by collaborating with the client to understand the requirements of the project and recommend metrics and conditions to produce accurate estimates and bids.
Research required inputs for the development of detailed cost estimates for exterior and interior projects to serve as the basis of Independent Government Cost Estimates.
Review specifications and drawings; and conduct visit sites to gather essential information on the proposed scope of work and bid requirements.
Work with the Project Manager and procurement personnel to provides technical assistance and advice in evaluating bids, negotiating contracts, and pricing change orders.
Perform cost comparison analyses between submitted bids and advise the client accordingly.
Prepare detailed reports for submission to appropriate parties as requested.
Bachelor’s degree construction, architecture, or a related field (preferred)
Five (5) years of experience as an estimator in commercial construction or related industry; may specialize according to particular service performed or type of product manufactured.
Demonstrated computer skills, with sound experise in construction cost estimating software.
Experience managing work requests on multiple projects at the same time
Three (3) years of demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
